They're friends !

Marley Jo has been at our house for a little over 3 weeks now, and peace has been restored.

Lottie started coming around after about a week and a half, and now they spend evenings chasing each other from one end of my mobile home to the other.  That's the kind of activity I was hoping to happen with Lottie.  She is HUGE, and the kitten was tiny (growing a bit already), but Marley has made up the difference by having claws to contend with....something that Lottie is lacking.

Also, my grandson, T.J. became a teenager this week, and my daughter turned 41.  I wanted to go up on Friday, but the younger grandson, Seth, came down with tummy troubles and a fever, so my daughter asked me to wait another week to come.  If I get to go this Friday, their Spring break will be coming to a very busy end.

I saw an orthopedic doctor about my shoulder pain, and he ordered 4 weeks of physical therapy for what he's called 'frozen shoulder'.  I've  been through 3 weeks already, and although they claim to see a noticable improvement, I know that I still have problems with the same movements as before.

Coming up on April 9th, I am scheduled to have my first colonoscopy.  I used the ColoGuard kit, and it came back with a positive reading (which I suspect always happens).  My friend Darleene is going to drive me up there and back (Columbia).

I know I'm all over the place with this post, but I'm just trying to document some of the many things that are going on in my life right now.

I also had a second mammogram, which came out with a clean report.

Quick Turnaround !

In my last post of a few days ago, I mentioned that Lottie and I still had not found a companion kitty.

Well, that changed a couple of nights ago, on the 28th, when a friend on facebook (who knew I was searching for a kitten) tagged me in a post about a kitten that had showed up at our local daycare center, and was in need of a home.

This is Marley.

I've named her for the swirls in her coat, on the sides of her body, and took the first 3 letters of my mom's name (Margery), and the last three letters of my daughter's name (Kelley).

Honestly, I have been trying to find a
'glam cat', because Lottie-dah is just so gorgeous to me, and I wanted my second kitty NOT to be known as "the other one".  At first glance, I wasn't interested in this one because tabby cats are just so common to me (no offense intended, just a personal lack of preference), EXCEPT FOR the ones that have the beautiful black swirls on their gray coat.  I've never had one like that before, and when I saw the swirls, I gave in.

So, I brought her home with me after meeting her on the morning of March 1st, yesterday.

What I didn't anticipate, though, was how antagonistic Lottie was going to be toward her.  This is Miss Lottie's attitude......
I just wish that you could hear her GROWLS.
I've purposely declined offers of older kittens, thinking that Lottie would only accept a baby that she could 'mother'.  But Lottie has never BEEN a mother, and, so far, shows no interest in that title or occupation.

But after an overnight of losing her place in bed (at my neck), and sulking at my feet, she did show a bit of interest when the kitten was wildly playing in the living room floor this morning.  She hasn't growled as much today, and even played with me a bit while keeping a bit of distance from Marley.....before both settled down for LONG DAYTIME NAPS.

So, stay tuned for updates and photos of our progress.  I'm trying to think of myself as a foster mother at this point, thinking that if Lottie doesn't warm up to Marley, I'll be looking for someone else to give her a truly welcoming home.

But, really, I'm loving this baby a bit already.
