“I have given skill to all the skillful, so that they may make all that I have commanded you. “ Exodus 31:6

“O Thou who art the all pervading glory of the world, we bless Thee for the power of beauty to gladden our hearts.
We praise Thee that even the least of us may feel a thrill of the creative joy when we give form and substance to our thoughts and, beholding our handiwork, find it good and fair. “.
Walter Rauschenbusch

"Come, and listen, all you who fear God; let me tell you what He has done for me.
I cried out to Him with my mouth; His praise was on my tongue.
If I had cherished sin in my heart, the LORD woud not have listened and heard my voice in prayer.
Praise be to God, Who has not rejected my prayer or withheld His love from me!" Psalm 66:16-20

3 weeks post surgery

Monday, I had a new swallow study/X-ray performed at Vanderbilt Hospital.  The specialist seemed to think that I was improving right on schedule, praise God .  She released me to start eating soft foods, but left the feeding tube in as I can't eat enough to get the nutrition I need from solid foods right now.

I've had potato soup for a couple of lunches this week, and overcooked some macaroni and cheese today (just the way I like it) and I ate a half cup of that.  It's actual work, with a lot of coughing and clearing my airway just to get through a little meal like that, so I have quite a ways to go.  As of this morning, I weigh 145 pounds, down from 158 on day of surgery.

I see my actual doctor on November 18th.  I hope he can explain the pain and modified movement I have in my left arm/shoulder.  Fun days !

Keep the faith !

  1. Bless your heart Dolly! I'm glad you are coming along well. It sounds like you are winning the battles, one by one. Praise God! I am trying to tat a bracelet and finish up knitting a sock or two. But....reading has me spending my time in a Charles Martin book. I have always loved to read, do you? The other day I found a hardbound copy of 'Miss Read's Christmas and The Christmas Mouse'. What a treat!!! Have you read any of the Miss REad books? About an English school teacher..very charming and a great take on various personalities and pleasures (& annoyances sometimes/dry humor) of everyday life. Hope you have a restful & good week-end in every way.

    1. Yes, I do love to read ! And I have followed your lead to some good books before ! I must remember to check out this latest author suggestion. The anesthesia or something seems to have affected my left eye so that I get a headache after a while of reading, but I WILL PERSEVERE, with my Lord's help, of course. Thank you for your words of encouragement, Maggie.......they bless me so ! Enjoy that knitting and tatting ! I have a second sock that I need to finish up now that the weather is turning cooler !
