“I have given skill to all the skillful, so that they may make all that I have commanded you. “ Exodus 31:6

“O Thou who art the all pervading glory of the world, we bless Thee for the power of beauty to gladden our hearts.
We praise Thee that even the least of us may feel a thrill of the creative joy when we give form and substance to our thoughts and, beholding our handiwork, find it good and fair. “.

"Come, and listen, all you who fear God; let me tell you what He has done for me.
I cried out to Him with my mouth; His praise was on my tongue.
If I had cherished sin in my heart, the LORD woud not have listened and heard my voice in prayer.
Praise be to God, Who has not rejected my prayer or withheld His love from me!" Psalm 66:16-20

Hey Jodie .......

I flipped !

Going to the back porch to rip.

Done !

Now, you who are scratching your heads need to know that Jodie Ann was always known as 'Flip' in our little circle of FUN quilters !  She REFUSED to make anything (there, Jodie, I've made it look intentional) without flipping something SOMEWHERE within the quilt top.
This is her top, so I guess it was inevitable, even if I'm the one doing the piecing, right Jodie?

Anyway, I got two more blocks pieced, but I couldn't fight the pull of temptation to get back to the machine-quilting quiltalong, which was going on WITHOUT ME !
I've been tempted to buy myself a special table I found that would make my White sewing machine bed level with the quilting surface.  But after practicing today, I've decided that I should KEEP practicing, to see whether or not there are MORE problems with my quilting than just a small machine bed.
I wiggled
Today, I tried the White machine, and wasn't happy, so I went back to the old Singer....had tension troubles there, (not sure why), but I got caught up with the quiltalong for now.  After working on my muslin practice-piece and on my quiltalong quilt, I pulled out the wallhanging that I had determined to finish during this learning time.
I squiggled

And, you know what?
I finished a wallhanging !
Finished IS better than perfect.......not that this little jewel was ever going to be perfect !

I made the top about 22 years ago, and almost threw it into the trash when I packed up to leave Shawnee.  Wanda Gayle wouldn't hear of it, and threw it into my  packing, lamenting that a flat little 19 inch square couldn't take up THAT much room.
Glad you rescued it Wanda.......it takes me back to those all-day (and sometimes almost all- night) sew-ins at Jodie Ann's house when we were all 'girls' !

Dottie that is so cool another flipper, yes i do flip girls and it is too funny sometimes i have been known to finish a quilt and hand quilt it hang it in a show and find a block flipped, but it still won a ribbon. speaking of ribbons, girlie i have 2 of your quilts going into the show and will anxiously await your results. i am emailing you the star quilt you helped me redraft and it is gorgeous and my husband fell in love with the blocks and quilt i made with the cut off points too funny he is like you are not giving that to charity you are keeping it, so i quilted it is so too pretty. also i am sending you a picture of jen's wedding quilt, oh my gosh, i forgot how AWESOME it is, you need to share that one for sure, it is going in the show. jen said her label has lost his glow and need to be rewritten by her auntie dot. so anyway, the blocks look awesome

  4. How pretty! I like your machine quilting experimentation! As for the labels, they are made from 100% cotton that is treated so it is fade and fray resistant and washable, I'm excited to try them!

  5. I love how you quilted the wallhanging. I have a pillowcase that was made with the "Billy" panel, too! I just love anything with Sue or Billy.
