“O Thou who art the all pervading glory of the world, we bless Thee for the power of beauty to gladden our hearts.
We praise Thee that even the least of us may feel a thrill of the creative joy when we give form and substance to our thoughts and, beholding our handiwork, find it good and fair. “.

"Come, and listen, all you who fear God; let me tell you what He has done for me.
I cried out to Him with my mouth; His praise was on my tongue.
If I had cherished sin in my heart, the LORD woud not have listened and heard my voice in prayer.
Praise be to God, Who has not rejected my prayer or withheld His love from me!" Psalm 66:16-20

I guess I made a MUG RUG

New times, new names.........we would have just called it a coaster !
Maybe it would look more up-to-date if I had made it rectangular.

You girls have done a much better job of this than me !

I took one of the free-motion quilting practice pieces and colored it with crayons.
Oh, well.  It will protect my little double-wedding ring quiltie........which they are now calling 'pickle dish', by the way !!!!!!!!!

(Thought I'd inject a little summertime blues into the winter's picture for all of you who are snowed in right now !  Stay warm and safe !)

  1. How cool is that! You colored it with crayons. Huh. Gotta protect the pickle-dish table topper!

  2. I've thought about a mug rug but haven't made one yet because I don't know how much I'd use it.
I thought the double wedding ring configuration was called a pickle dish when it was made with triangles instead of the more rectangular shapes. Reminds me of some of my grandmother's cut glass dishes.
I think it's so clever that you colored the mug rug with crayons. You were able to get lovely intense colors.

  3. Word Searching Mug Rug trying to figure out why coasters are all the rage in the quilting world. (during my absence knitting & crocheting)

And wondered why they're bigger than a mug? ;) Saw a few pictures with a snack along side the cup... guess that works!

  4. Buy Tonya's book, Dolly. You know which one I mean. For one thing you get great instructions and information at your fingertips. For another, you get to support somebody who has inspired a great many quilters.

    btw, cute mug rug!
    lol!

  6. It is a cute mug rug, who says there are set sizes? It's like coasters or hot pads, just get them somewhere in the general area of usefulness.
Your zigzag is looking great, too, I cannot believe you are quilting so rapidly by hand, Dolly!
